A Brief History of Bubba Kush Strain

The origins of Bubba Kush dates back to 1996 when OG Kush pollinated an unknown indica strain that was brought back from Mardi Gras in New Orleans. It has been said that Northern Lights is supposedly the mother plant, however, the unknown indica plant was simply referred to as “Bubba.”

Cannabis specialist from Los Angeles, Matt “Bubba” Berger, has been an instrumental figure in taking the cannabis industry to record-breaking heights. This is mainly due to his creation of OG Kush, which has changed the game of cannabis for over 26 years. Because of this, he is known as one of the six godfathers of the 1992 OG Kush, which is possibly one of the most famous and well-loved parent strains around the world.

Backed with a science degree in developing the cannabis plant, Bubba Berger started his journey with a small seed farm in Denver, Colorado. After years of successful cultivation, Bubba Berger became a specialist in lawful cannabis cultivation in North America.

In terms of genetic history, the Bubba Kush goes back to the Hindu Kush mountains, but it is important to note that its complete genetic trace is unknown due to its poor documentation. However, one thing is for sure, Its 100% indica makeup makes it a good strain to take when you’re looking for something to ease your mind and body

The Effects of Bubba Kush

Bubba Kush’s initial effects are not typical for such an indica-dominant strain. It begins with a warped sensation felt in the head, and moves onto a melting bodily sensation that truly intensifies the high. While not particularly giving an energizing effect, users can still expect a sense of mental focus and the ability to function in social situations.

Those who consume Bubba Kush can experience a heavy relaxation and an overwhelming sense of comfort, combined with a functional high that can be utilized for performing tasks.

As with all cannabis strains, those who overdo toking Bubba Kush can experience dryness of the mouth. If you are a novice smoker, it would be best to limit your intake and take it from there.

Cultivating the Bubba Kush Strain

Bubba Kush is a strain that is relatively easy to grow, making it ideal for newbie cultivators. Like other varieties of indica plants, it has a stocky and bushy appearance and can be grown indoors, outdoors, or in a greenhouse.

When grown outdoors, Bubba Kish develops the natural ability to resist moulds and pests. However, outdoor growers would still need to make sure that the plants get consistent sunlight, with a daytime temperature ranging between 22 C and 26 C. The strain can thrive well indoors, and can potentially offer a higher yield if grown in hydroponic solution.

The flowering stage is to be expected between eight and nine weeks for indoor grows and is usually ready for harvest in early October. The expected yield for the Bubba Kush strain is typically lower (from 32 to 35 grams, or 1 to 1.2 ounces per square foot), but the quality of the flowers is excellent.

Its dense buds are covered in gluey trichomes, making it a good strain for curing and sale, as well as for the production of hash and other types of concentrates. Those who wish to grow the Bubba Kush strain should always make sure to cure the buds correctly by hanging them upside down in an area that consistently has 50% humidity and a temperature of 21 C. To retain its potency, sealing the buds in wide-mouthed airtight jars in a room with 21 C is another important step to keep in mind.

An Overview of the Bubba Kush Strain

With its wide-ranging support from tokers all over the world, the Bubba Kush strain has become a staple in the North American cannabis market. Its solid indica genetics and high potency have developed into an abundance of child strains such as Madness, Blackberry Kush, and Bubba’s Gift.
